This Devlog provides the text of the current README file 


SFX Index - 8-BIT GAMEBOY SONGS DX - TipTopTomCat - (C) 2024

------ INTRO ------

Sound Effects (SFX) files are named hexadecimally to reflect numbering in FXHammer

.SAV files were created using FXHammer 

.UGE/.MP3/.WAV/.C files were created using hUGETracker

--- LICENSE NOTES ---

- If these assets are used with or without modification, credit should be given to "TipTopTomCat". Use of these assets as templates is welcome if sufficiently transformative changes are made

- These assets CAN be modified and used for commercial or non-commercial projects

- While derivatives of these assets are welcome, the assets themselves (and versions of the assets with non-tranformative modifications) CANNOT be redistributed, resold, uploaded to streaming platforms, or claimed as your own work

- A download of the asset(s) does not grant exclusive use rights, so it should be noted that these may be used by myself (TipTopTomCat) or others in projects.

**Recommended for GB Studio**

The .SAV file can be placed in a GB Studio assets/sounds folder, then accessed in a GB Studio project through the SOUND EFFECTS menu.

FXHammer and GB Studio index numbers are provided below in the INDEX section and may also be listened to at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtZa2NV0LJk

------- .UGE -------

Intended for GB Studio, can be placed in the assets/music folder, then accessed in a GB Studio project through the MUSIC menu.

Editable in GB Studio, but plays as a "music track" instead of a "sound effect". If the user wishes to edit something about the asset, this format is the most accessible to GB Studio users without having to download and understand FXHammer or hUGETracker.

**FOR GB STUDIO, .SAV IS RECOMMENDED OVER .UGE AS .SAV IS MORE MEMORY EFFICIENT**

.MP3 is not intended for GB Studio/GBDK, but has been provided for use in other contexts

While .WAV files are techinically readable by GB Studio, the provided files are not optimized for GB playback, so it should be noted that the provided .WAV files will not play correctly in GB Studio without additional post-processing

**FOR GB STUDIO SFX, .SAV IS RECOMMENDED OVER .WAV AS .SAV IS MORE MEMORY EFFICIENT**
